All Around the Garden Week 1

Winter is finally on it’s way out of Cleveland, spring is slowly making its way in and I couldn’t be more excited! It has been a crazy busy winter but I have been cooking and baking a lot in the kitchen and have new recipes to share with you in the weeks and months to come!  One of the highlights over the past few months was Dramaless Food being featured by Sixth City Marketing’s Top 30 Social Media Accounts for Foodies in Cleveland list! It’s such an honor to be included in the list with a lot of social media influencers that I admire myself! Be sure to take a look at the whole list of Cleveland foodies and share with your friends!

Now with a little more time on my hands and in the spirit of spring, I am really excited to start my newest series on the blog, “All Around the Garden.” Each week, I will be sharing the progress of our summer vegetable garden and am hoping by the end of the season, to be able to share with you some awesome recipes that have come from the fruits (and vegetables) of our labors!

This week marks week one of the start of the garden and that means starting the seeds! Tom and I usually do a mix of plants we have grown from seed and a few plants that we buy from a local greenhouse, but this year I decided to go big and try almost all of our plants from seed. Here’s the line-up of seeds we have planted:

  • Cherokee Purple Tomatoes
  • San Marzano Tomatoes
  • Ace Tomatoes
  • Beefsteak Tomatoes
  • Tomatillos
  • Romaine Lettuce
  • Baby Spinach
  • Habaneros
  • Banana Peppers
  • Flat Leaf Italian Parsley
  • Sweet Italian Basil
  • Stringless Green Beans
  • Zucchini
  • Watermelon

I’ll be honest, I am not too sure what is going to truly sprout but I figured we have a good enough variety that we ought to get something that we will be able to plant. It will probably be another week or two before we have sprouts but next week, I’ll highlight what I am using to help get the seeds to sprout!

What do you think?
